The Venetian Ghetto is an ancient neighbourhood in the city centre, celebrated for its singular origin and history which have lent it an extraordinarily intriguing and fascinating aspect over the centuries, with its tall buildings in warm and welcoming colours overlooking broad squares and spaces surrounded by canals. What makes its absolutely unique is that it is still a living, vibrant neighbourhood today, where two synagogues open to the public continue to celebrate their rituals and ceremonies and Jewish administrative and religious institutions continue to play an active role in daily life.
