Mimmo Jodice’s timeless photographs on display in Florence for the very first time. Also on display as a tribute to the city, his vintage photographs of the work of Michelangelo Buonarroti

Villa Bardini will be hosting an exhibition of photographs entitled Mimmo Jodice. Timeless, curated by Roberto Koch and promoted by the Fondazione CR Firenze and Intesa Sanpaolo in collaboration with the Fondazione Parchi Monumentali Bardini e Peyron, from 24 March to 14 July. The exhibition will include a documentary by Mario Martone exploring the life of this master photographer from Naples.
Mimmo Jodice’s artistic work, unparalleled on the international scene, has the ability to leapfrog over all sense of time, turning its back on today’s rationale based on the rapid consumption of images. His notion of time is eternal, allowing for depth of understanding and encouraging contemplation and meditation on the subjects he photographs. He forges a deep bond with his images, which are often the product of experimental development in the dark room. His work is an expression of processes and techniques that offer visitors a unique approach to art built around his experience, his travels and his vision.
The exhibition showcases eighty photographs taken between 1964 and 2011 embracing all the most important themes he has addressed in the course of his artistic career, broken down into eight sections entitled Anamnesis, Languages, Views of Naples, City, Nature and Sea.
