Housed in a building of immense historical, artistic and architectural importance, the aquarium enjoys a splendid position on the Terrazza Mascagni on Livorno’s waterfront. The building’s historical and artistic value goes hand in hand with the important features of the area in which it sits: the Etruscan Coast with its archaeological interest, the Tuscan Archipelago and the Whale Sanctuary to which this stretch of coastline belongs. The aquarium is home to some 2,000 animals of over 300 different species housed in 33 splendid tanks.
