The exhibition sets out to tell the story of Sienese art from the later Middle Ages to the 20th century through a series of masterpieces from the collection of Monte dei Paschi di Siena bank. The exhibition, hosted in the Museum Complex of Santa Maria della Scala in Siena, is due to run until 8 January 2023. Works by masters of the calibre of Pietro Lorenzetti, Tino di Camaino, Stefano di Giovanni known as Sassetta, Giovanni Antonio Bazzi known as Sodoma, Domenico Beccafumi, Bernardino Mei, Cesare Maccari and Fulvio Corsini plunge visitors into the heart of Siena’s age-old love affair with the figurative arts. These peerless figures. whose success and popularity extended well beyond the city’s boundaries, exemplify the extraordinary quality of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena’s collection which will forever be an inseparable part of the city, its historic memory and its deepest values.
